Amy Gist

Nutrition Counselor

Amy was a loyal client for 6 years before coming to work for us...and she still has 300+ food journals to prove it! Clients often comment that they appreciate how much "Amy Gets It." Amy truly understands the variety and depth of mental and physical struggles that can accompany beating old habits. Among Amy's own challenges were being a fashion model in the "Twiggy" era (yes, she's older than she looks!) and then working as a pastry chef at 5-star restaurants. Amy cares so deeply about our clients' success that she frequently spends extra time with them and then forgets to have us pay her for her time!
"I just want to share with you how thankful I am for Amy and her wise counsel. She has empowered me in a way that has been life changing! Through Amy- I've learned to see beyond the challenges with food- to solutions! Her ease in working with me comes so naturally, that I wonder if she realizes what a special talent that is? I value what I've learned! I value Amy!"

Catherine Holcomb

Nutrition Counselor

Catherine was born and raised in Minnesota and moved out to LA to attend Scripps College. The move to the West Coast resulted in an increased interest in health and nutrition, mostly due to the impact on her body of buffet-style service for every meal in the dining halls during college! After graduating from Scripps with a degree in psychology, and an extra 20 pounds, Catherine began actively trying to change her eating habits. It wasn't until she became a client of Diet for Health that she found a program that really worked for her. She is an avid follower of cutting-edge health and wellness research, and loves the holistic approach Diet for Health takes toward creating sustainable healthy life habits! As a vegetarian, Catherine also understands how staying healthy and fit can be a challenge when working with dietary restrictions or preferences.

Catherine also works at Caltech in a social neuroscience laboratory, where she has been involved with studies about social behavior, autism, decision making, and how the brain processes rewards.

Naryne Sahagian, M.A.

Nutrition Counselor

Naryne knows first-hand how a low metabolism, busy schedule and demanding sedentary job can be challenging...but nonetheless overcome! As living proof, she spent two years with us as a client losing over 50 pounds and has kept it off since 2007. She has "been there" and squeezed the wisdom out of every challenge.

She managed that while earning a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Pepperdine University. Having struggled with years of ups and downs, Naryne was strong willed and motivated to change and reports, "It wasn't until I was introduced to Diet for Health, that I was able to achieve my goals". Naryne knows that with any healthy transition in life, the "knowing how" is not so much the challenge as the "doing it" part.

We are honored that Naryne takes time from her practice to share her skills, wisdom and experience with our clients.
"Naryne helped me figure out some things about myself that have helped me every single day."

Heather Brunold, M.Ed.

Nutrition Counselor

Heather was born and raised in La Canada and since 2006, Heather has been overseeing Wellness programs and designing curriculum for several private schools. After a difficult pregnancy forced her on full-time bed rest, cutting her off from her daily exercise routines, she became passionately interested in nutrition as a building block for health and wellbeing. Heather specializes in the different nutritional challenges people face as they grow and develop, particularly for children, teens, college students, young mothers and families. She has a gift for helping people learn how to balance their unique food and fitness challenges, with the hustle and bustle of every day life. She is a knowledgable and supportive mentor and highly experienced counselor, who sees her clients through to success.

Heather is currently pursuing a doctorate in learning and motivation from USC, after having received her M.Ed. there in 2004. She is an expert in Wellness Education and works steadfastly to help people understand their unique wellness, balance, and forms of serenity, then teaching them how to transfer that new knowledge into long term memory, forming solid, healthy habits that will stick.

Jasper

Cocker Spaniel, Mascot, Cheerleader

Jasper keeps us company at the office and is always willing to do a victory dance to celebrate a client's success. He is learning to become a nutritionist himself, as he will play dead upon hearing the words "French fries" and won't pop back to life until he hears "broccoli" or "salad". Most of all, with his willingness to eat anything anytime, he reminds us that our biology was not designed for resisting temptation, which is why a supportive nutrition team can make all the difference!
